Vollebekk, Cornfield to play StFX Art Gallery

This Sunday the StFX art gallery will play host to its second concert in three days, this time two solo artists.
We last saw Montreal’s Vollebekk in September when he wow-ed an awestruck crowd at the StFX chapel alongside Tim Crabtree and student Landon Coleman. This time he will be accompanied by Charlotte Cornfield, also from Montreal.
Charlotte Cornfield, 21, is a jazz drumming student at Concordia University whose upbeat and refreshing songs match her Joni Mitchell-like voice, and will be playing an acoustic solo set. Vollebekk will also be playing a solo acoustic set, although he will also be bringing his violin, electric guitar and harmonicas, he says “just to change things up.”
Anyone who has seen a concert at the art gallery in the basement of the Bloomfield Centre will know this will not be a show to miss. Likewise for anyone who caught Leif Vollebekk last fall in the campus chapel.
The ambiance that is guaranteed to be generated from the meeting of these two atmospheric forces, combined with the breath of fresh air that is Charlotte Cornfield, might be serious cause for alarm for the building’s sprinkler system.
