Council update: Report from March 20, 2026

The students’ union representative council met last Sunday, March 20 for their fourth meeting of the semester.
The meeting began with council’s ratification of Taylor Smith as the students’ union vice president of communications, beginning May 1, 2011. She was hired last Saturday, and the motion to ratify her was carried.
Following this, a bylaw amendment was put forward to add a second entertainment coordinator to the office of the vice president of events and activities for the coming academic year.
Council debated this issue, with the current vice president of activities and events, Mark Gillis, asserting the need for a second entertainment coordinator. The motion carried unanimously.
Another new position, under the office of the vice president of student relations, was also discussed with Meaghan McNeil, who currently holds the executive position and has been re-hired for next year, explaining the need for a house council coordinator.
After a lengthy discussion of the creation of this new position, the motion to do so was carried.
The next StFX students’ union representative council meeting will be held this Sunday, March 27, at 12:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
