Volunteering at the Xaverian Weekly
A How-to Guide by
Ashley Fletcher Editor-in-Chief

COME TO A MEETING:
Every Monday at 6:00pm we have our meetings in the newsroom, located in the basement of the SUB by the campus bookstore. They are open to everyone and are the best way to meet and talk with us in person! All the editors are there and they pitch their stories and you let the editors know if you want to write something that they have mentioned. It's also great to hear what you guys have heard going on campus. We love feedback and brainstorming. We're always looking for article ideas, feature focuses and new outlooks. We also have free Greco pizza!

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
We love people who want to write for us: News stories, following up with events on campus, cd reviews, comics, puzzles, sports games and many other things. Help out with selling ads or laying out the paper, possibilities are endless!

DO I GET FREE STUFF?:
Yes indeedy. It feels great to work for the paper, nothing beats watching thousands of students reading your work as you walk around on distributions day. You can also put on your resume that you are a published author.

Plus, we do other cool things. If you review a cd, you can keep it! We also get free tickets to all the sports games, concerts and theatre productions and you can have them if you write a story on them!
